YADIRA PINILLA
Chair, Board of Directors
Dear OAS FCU Members, volunteers, colleagues, and staff,
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to present the highlights of the work and achievements of OAS Federal Credit Union during 2025. This year has been defined by steady growth, operational resilience, and the continued commitment of our volunteers and staff to serve our diverse international membership.
A cornerstone of our success remains the strength of our governance structure. In 2025, our volunteer program continued to play a critical role in supporting the Credit Union’s oversight and strategic direction. Approximately 55 dedicated volunteers served across the Board of Directors and nine committees, contributing their expertise and time to ensure sound governance, regulatory compliance, and alignment with our cooperative, member-owned mission.
The integrity of our democratic processes remains central to our governance. The Nominating Committee worked diligently to safeguard the transparency and fairness of the annual elections process. Through careful candidate identification, evaluation, and nomination, the committee ensured that members were presented with qualified and committed candidates, helping maintain strong leadership continuity. The committee will present its report to the membership as part of this Annual Meeting.
Independent oversight is also a vital component of our governance framework. The Supervisory Committee continued to serve as the Credit Union’s internal auditor, providing independent oversight of financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance activities. Their work reinforces accountability and transparency, strengthening the confidence our members place in the Credit Union. The Supervisory Committee will also present its report at this meeting.
Throughout the year, volunteers actively supported initiatives aligned with our Strategic Plan for 2025–2027. Their involvement has helped advance priorities related to sustainable growth, stronger outreach, and enhanced governance effectiveness. These efforts are laying a solid foundation for expanding membership and deepening relationships with organizations connected to the OAS and our other Select Employee Groups (SEGS).
Operationally, the Credit Union continued to make important progress. We completed the remodeling of our Main Office, creating a more accessible and collaborative environment for member engagement. The redesigned space includes street-level access and modernized work areas that support a more interactive approach to member service. The renovation also contributes to a reduced carbon footprint, reflecting our commitment to responsible operations.
In addition, our office at National Geographic is prepared to welcome new cohorts of employees joining the organization this year, as National Geographic completes the renovation of its main building, which is expected to reopen officially in the summer of 2026. These developments position the Credit Union to continue serving our members effectively as our partner organizations evolve.
Equally important has been our work with other SEG organizations such as CAF, the Inter-American Defense College and Board, IICA, National Geographic, FONPLATA, ICHR, and PADF to ensure that the Credit Union continues to offer relevant financial solutions that meet the needs of both institutional partners and their staff.
We are also investing in the future of our financial services infrastructure. During 2025, the Credit Union began a comprehensive analytical process to identify a new payment and transfer solution that would replace international ACH services and better meet member needs when sending funds to and from the United States, and enhance our member service platform. This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to providing products and services that support members wherever they bank.
This year also required resilience. The broader environment continues to be shaped by sociopolitical uncertainty and the ongoing effects of post-inflationary economic adjustments. Despite these challenges, the Credit Union remained steady and focused on improving its financial performance while continuing to support members. We demonstrated steadfastness during challenging times—balancing prudent internal cost management while remaining committed to serving our membership.
Our volunteer program continues to reflect the multicultural and internationally based community that defines OAS FCU. Volunteers serve as an important bridge between members and leadership, ensuring that the needs of our diverse membership remain central to our decision-making.
At the same time, we remain committed to leadership continuity. By retaining experienced volunteers while developing new leaders, we preserve institutional knowledge and strengthen the long-term stability of the Credit Union.
Above all, the dedication of our volunteers reinforces the cooperative values that define OAS Federal Credit Union. Through their service, transparency, and engagement, they help strengthen the trust that our members place in this institution.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to thank our volunteers, management team, staff, and members for their continued commitment to the Credit Union. Together, we will continue building a strong, resilient institution that serves the financial needs of our international community for years to come.
Yours truly,
Yadira Pinilla
